What is an Independent Living Support Service?
Independent living support services are provided to individuals who are 18 years or older with the intent to provide skill building and support needed for the individual to thrive and upkeep their home in the community. The individual may live alone or with roommates in his/her own residence or other community settings. Independent living is covered in the BI waiver.
Independent living support includes:
- Building skills and providing assistance for individuals to maintain stability in their homes and communities without their primary caregiver present.
- Enhancing socialization skills, and providing transportation.
- Improving and maintaining health, safety through skill-building and support.
- Enhancing and maintaining skills for activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
